About the role
A unique opportunity to join a leading government advisory consultancy. Consulum is seeking a Social Media Designer to join its social media team. This role involves designing and creating graphics, images, and animations that effectively convey brand messages, engage the target audience, and enhance the overall social media presence.
The ideal candidate should have a strong proven understanding of social media design principles, an eye for aesthetics across social media platforms, and the ability to adapt to evolving digital trends.
The social media graphic designer plays a crucial role in enhancing an entity’s online presence and engaging with its target audience in line with social media communication objectives. This role is essential for building brand awareness, increasing audience engagement, and driving social media success.
Dubai or Bahrain
- Support with the day to day delivery of strategic governmental communications collateral to clients across the Middle East
- Create compelling and visually appealing graphics, including but not limited to social media posts, banners, cover photos, infographics, and other visual content for social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
- Develop original and innovative design concepts that align with the client’s voice, message, and target audience. This may include designing for promotional campaigns, events, or daily content.
- Ensure all social media visuals are consistent with the brand’s identity and guidelines. Maintain a coherent and recognizable visual style across all platforms upholding clients’ standards and platform requirements.
- Edit and retouch photos for optimal quality and appearance, adhering to the client’s aesthetic.
- Create designs optimized for various social media platforms, taking into account each platform’s unique image size and format requirements.
- Select and apply suitable fonts and typography to enhance the visual appeal and message of the content.
- Make effective use of client’s color palettes to evoke desired emotions and align with the client’s identity.
- Develop animated graphics, GIFs, and short video clips to capture audience attention and engagement.
- Stay updated on current design and social media trends and make recommendations to ensure the content remains fresh and competitive.
- Collaborate with team to gather feedback and make necessary revisions.
- Utilize design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) to create and edit graphics.
- Work closely with Social Media, Creative and Digital teams to ensure content is in line with clients’ overall strategies.
- Ensure quality control, well-placed graphics, and optimized for mobile viewing.
- Monitor content performance metrics (e.g., views, likes, shares, comments) and provide insights to improve future content.
- With the social media editors craft compelling narratives that resonate with the target audience and align with the client’s voice and identity.
- Use creative transitions, text overlays, and music to enhance storytelling and engagement.
- Have a finger on the pulse of developments taking place in tech and digital comms – upskilling colleagues across Consulum
Essential skills and attributes
- Proven experience as a graphic designer, with a portfolio showcasing social media design work.
- Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, Photoshop etc)
- Strong storytelling and creative skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory.
- Knowledge of social media platforms, dimensions and requirements, trends, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Languages: Arabic and English fluency both written and verbal
- Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to think outside the box.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of optimization for different platforms and devices.

- Experience working in government communications.
- Understanding of verbal or written Arabic.
- Excellent writing and presentational skills
- Experience producing communications materials, including social media, press releases, talking points, media briefings, etc.
- Experience participating in the development and implementation of communications strategies
- Experience in marketing digital propositions
- Experience in SEO optimisation
- Excellent organisational skills and flexible approach to work, with the ability to work independently, but also display solid team working skills
- Analytical skills and tactical judgement.
- At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in digital disciplines
- Able to produce finished bilingual content in English and Arabic.
- Knowledge of animation and video editing software is a plus.
