Tom has a proven track record of leading teams and providing expert media relations, crisis and strategic communications advice. He has been a crucial advisor to leaders during some of the most high-profile political events of recent times.

Prior to joining Consulum, Tom worked at the heart of the UK Government, heading up high-performing press and social media teams and was a trusted communications advisor to heads of state at major departments, including HM Treasury, the Home Office and the Department of Health.

He played integral roles in communicating the UK’s economic response to COVID-19, Brexit, the 2017 terror attacks and the NHS strikes, and overseeing communications for three Budgets, two spending reviews and the 2021 G7 finance minister’s summit in London.

Before his time in government, Tom was a national newspaper journalist, working for media organisations, including the Press Association and Daily Express.
